Digital devices and the Internet have become so ingrained in our daily lives that it is often difficult not to use them in some capacity. This dependence on their usage could impact our life satisfaction.
Hence our researchers explored how perceptions of dependence on digital devices and the Internet, as well as actual dependent behaviours, influence life satisfaction in Singapore.
We found that how people perceive their dependence on technology could be more impactful on their life satisfaction than their actual usage patterns. This highlights the importance of considering psychological perceptions in understanding the effects of digital device and Internet usage on life satisfaction.
